Chief Nurse
American National Red Cross
As Chief Nurse of the American Red Cross, Dr. Linda MacIntyre provides leadership for nurses and other health professionals across the organization. Linda provides vision, direction and support in meeting the Red Cross mission. She oversees health professional volunteer recruitment, engagement and recognition, and provides oversight for Academic Service Learning. As Chief Nurse, Linda represents the Red Cross and collaborates with federal and civilian health and nursing organizations, government agencies, universities, hospitals and other key stakeholders.
Linda participated in community coalitions and was a member of the Medical Reserve Corps Steering Committee in Kansas City. She was the director of community health and youth for the Red Cross Greater Kansas City Region and engaged students from 10 universities and colleges. She was responsible for disaster health response across five counties and convened a forum for community partners to improve disaster preparedness, response and recovery through collaboration. Linda served on the National Advisory Committee on Children and Disasters from 2014-2018.

Clinical Psychologist
Manger of Disaster Health and Mental Health Services
American Red Cross
Dr. Cole is a clinical psychologist and Manager of Disaster Health and Mental Health Services at the American Red Cross National Headquarters. Dr. Cole has been with the American Red Cross since 1999, beginning her career as a volunteer in Rochester NY with the Disaster Mental Health team. In 2005 and 2006, Dr. Cole assisted in developing and implementing the New York State Office of Mental Health and Department of Public Health training, Disaster Mental Health: A Critical Response. She has written curricula on provision of disaster mental health services related to substance abuse and mental illness during disaster and has published on social support and recruitment and retention of volunteers. Valerie came to National Headquarters in 2011 as Senior Associate for Disaster Mental Health. In 2013, she was promoted to Manager for Disaster Health Services and Disaster Mental Health. In that position, she shepherded the creation of the Disaster Spiritual Care Function and oversaw the health and mental health programs, ensuring that the health and mental health services offered by the American Red Cross utilize best practices and the most current evidence-based strategies in the disaster response field.
