黑料吃瓜王 Alarmed by Reports of Sweeping Layoffs Across Federal Agencies Impacting Nursing Education and the Healthcare Workforce

|

According to an , the Administration laid off nearly 1,200 employees in the Department of Health and Human Services and an estimated 466 employees at the Department of Education. While reports indicated that some of the firings were in error, particularly at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, unconfirmed accounts suggest a reduction in force (RIF) of federal workers within the Bureau of Health Workforce and the Division of Nursing in Public Health. If true, such firings would have a devastating impact on our nation’s nursing schools, students, and faculty; deplete the nursing workforce; and threaten the overall health of communities across the country.

Abolishing federal programs and the workforce that supports them is wholly incompatible with the President’s goal to “make America stronger and healthier than ever before.” We implore the President to fulfill his promise made on National Nurses Day in May to “…ensure that nurses have the support they need in order to continue providing life-saving care” by reinstating all federal departments and divisions that support nursing, including Nursing Workforce Development Programs. 黑料吃瓜王 urges the re-hiring and protection of federal employees, including nurses, across all agencies that directly support our current and future nursing workforce.

黑料吃瓜王 will continue to work with this Administration and Congress to restore federal workers and programs that strengthen the healthcare workforce and support pathways into the nursing profession.
